If you are a lover of the cannabis world and want to participate in an event of international fame, a trip to Prague to visit Cannafest is exactly what you’re looking for. Cannafest is the cream of the crop of cannabis festivals – a place where all aspects of our beloved and age-old plant are celebrated.
Prague, the golden city
Despite the large number of cancelled fairs this year – 2021 – Cannafest, has managed to weather the storm and at Seedstockers was prepared for this great event! Cannafest is not just any fair – is one of the largest in the world and, with this year’s fair, it reached its eleventh edition.
Participating in Cannafest is like an immersive experience in which a wide range of national and international cannabis products are showcased. The exhibition takes place at PVA Expo Prague Letnanyis. Inside, the fair takes place in four pavilions, with 18,000 square meters for exhibitors, plus an outdoor space where you can find delicious Czech street food.
What to find at Cannafest
Strolling through the exhibitor spaces at Cannafest, attendees have direct contact with the most recognized international trends in the cannabis world.
This edition has brought together products of all kinds: from the most cutting-edge technologies for growing, seed banks, smoking accessories, fertilizers, cosmetics, hemp edibles, and certainly this year we have seen a more noticeable presence of CBD products.
Seedstockers at Cannafest 2021
Seedstockers participated for the first time in Cannafest celebration back in 2018. At that time the brand was young and not vastly known, however the reception by the Czech public was excellent. Since cannabis seeds continues to be more and more in demand by the Czech market, Seedstockers is quickly becoming one of the most recognized brands in the Czech territory.
How did it go? We built a stand of 27m² and a team of 10 people attending the public, two arcade games, a very unique meeting room that we used to record interviews with very interesting people of the sector, a canvas of more than 8 meters high to promote our star variety –BCN Critical XXL Autoflowering – and a catalogue of products available for purchase with exclusive offers and new varieties. For example, in the catalogue you could find our latest additions: Bruce Banner, Jack Herrer, CBD Critical XXL Auto, Gorilla Cookies, etc. All this under the slogan “PÊSTUJ SVOJE PRÁVA” (CULTIVATE YOUR RIGHTS).
History and law of Cannabis in the Czech Republic
Thanks to the country’slong-standing history of cannabis culture, they had an ability to host such a large and impressive fair.
According to the 2014 European Drug Report, Czechs are among the top cannabis users on the continent. In general, the country has a very liberal attitude towards drugs.
Since 1993, the Czech Republic has been moving towards a radical reform of cannabis legislation. Only production and sale were criminalized. The Czech Republic seemed to become the “New Holland.” All this liberalism created tensions between the country and the United Nations, and so in 1999 a step backwards was taken by re-criminalizing possession.
The current situation is as follows:
Medical cannabis is legal if prescribed with a prescription (law in-force since 2013), you can also grow plants at home if you have previously registered.
Recreational cannabis, technically is decriminalized: as a general rule it is better not to carry more than 15 grams or to be in possession of more than 5 plants. Otherwise, the fine would be around 500 euros.
The Czech Republic has a history that makes it very tolerant in many respects, but, on the other hand, the general situation is more or less the same as in other European countries.
The Czechs, in line with the history of the country, are knowledgeable and experienced in cannabis culture and it has been a pleasure for us to work in this environment.
We continue to hope that the Czech Republic will return to the path of liberalism that has marked its history over the years, and we look forward to the next edition of Cannafest in 2022!
